Breaking myself in gently, I did a quick ATC for TMTATC – I LOVE harlequin backgrounds and of course I had to use my new Art Journey stamps again :D  I stamped the little boy first, masked him, then stamped the Harlequin Background in Versamark, embossing with clear EP, then sponging on the two colours of ink. Embossing resist is also the monthly Stamping challenge for KCUK, so this is my sample.  Then I stamped a Hero Arts Words b/g  in the green ink, Moments in Rusty Hinge and Precious with my trusty black Memories inkpad.  Removed the mask and coloured him with some watercolour pencils, when I eventually found them…

I’ve used two of my favourite colours of inks here – Palette Water lily Green and Rusty Hinge Distress ink.
The Crafty Cardmaker’s Challenge for this week is to get inky, so I’m entering this into the challenge.
While playing, I had in mind a card I’d seen on the Hero Arts Blog, so I got my felt tips out and made this because I needed a ‘Thinking of You’ card.  Anyone who knows me knows that yellow is NOT one of my favourite colours but I really liked the idea of this design.  Mine is much simpler than theirs but I almost like it as much ;)

When I came home from York, I had a lovely surprise when I learned that I’d been chosen as one of the DT for Crafty Cardmakers Challenge – woohoo!  That WILL be a challenge cos it’s not my usual type of challenge.  Look forward to joining the rest of the team soon!

Thought I’d leave you with a taste of what I was doing over the weekend.

Doesn’t look that impressive until you see a close up and realise that every little speck is a BIRD!  There are hundreds of thousands of them, all looking as if they’re hanging on for dear life and the noise is incredible.  They all sound as if they’re laughing!

Wow!
And here’s a little cutie ;)  This one was cropped from a photo like the one above, so the quality from my little point and click camera isn’t brilliant, but it still looks so cuddly.

Last but not least, decided to share my desk today along with everyone else at WOYWW, so here are the photos of my workspace this morning – BEFORE I started stamping!
Believe it or not, this was tidy for me, though I can assure you it’s a lot messier now…

Saturday 26 June 2010

Well, I went to tidy up my Stamping Room and guess what - I didn't!  I ended up stamping, so I've scheduled a few of the results for while I'm in York, spending a couple of days with my brother.

Friday 25 June 2010

I fully intended tidying my room, honestly – that’s what I went in there for but I just had to try out a few new images, so I’ve scheduled the results for while I’m in York, enjoying some precious moments with my brother.

It’s Chris’s fault!

I stamped the Butterflies and Dragonflies first, embossing them with clear EP, then masked them, coloured the backgrounds and stamped the Text and postmark stamps, embossing again.  Backgrounds are made with Pigment inks (mainly Colorbox with a bit of Brilliance here and there) and the Butterflies and Dragonflies are coloured with Copics.  There’s Glitter Glaze on the Dragonfly wings, which doesn’t show clearly in the scan.

PDCC34

This week’s PDCC is a Splash of Colour, using black, white and a splash of blue.

Little tip, too – Blog Candy to come soon… I need to clear this stuff that’s hanging around…..

Sunday 20 June 2010

I had a play with some colours and stamps on glossy card – lots of fun – and this is the result.

19 June 2010 (3a)

I love this image but haven’t used it much with anything but sepia or reds and golds, so thought I’d play a little on some glossy card.

Saturday 19 June 2010

Nice and simple this time – gentle colours, a great image and a very inspiring quotation!

While waiting for my Glossy Accents to dry, I had a quick play with this, but I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it yet…

Thursday 17 June 2010

Just made this card, using Glimmer Mists and Adirondack inks.  For the pears, I just used a wet paintbrush to pull the colour in and added a touch of Watermelon to give the rosy look.

A simple ATC for Think Monday, Think ATC.

Got a little annoyed with myself for not masking, so just did this – I’m not happy with the colours or the colouring but it’s better in some ways.

Sunday 13 June 2010

I’m behind on a few birthdays on KCUK and we have a lot coming up, so I thought I’d better make a few birthday cards and here’s one, coloured with Copics and Promarkers.

Thanks again to Pen for this honour.

BeautifulBloggerAward

Here are the TEN fab people to whom I’d like to present this award.  There are so many of you out there whose blogs I visit regularly – some I know wouldn’t appreciate an award, so I’ve left you off the list, lol – others, have already received it.  Thank you to all of you for the inspiration you provide.  It was a really difficult choice.

1   LOTTIE – whose blog is an inspiration in more ways than one, as is Lottie herself!

2   JU – who again is really inspiring and has a great range of talent.

JO – who is always so creative, so amazingly talented and so encouraging.

SAM – who’s so adventurous with her artwork and creates some fab stuff.

LYNNE – whose artwork is so unique and pretty.

SALLY – who seems to be able to create any style with ease!

ALISON – whose work is so inspiring.

SIOUX – whose work is truly unique.

ANKE – who does some amazing white highlighting on her lovely artwork.

and

10  VIX – whose Promarker Creations and Tutorials are amazing!

Now for TEN things you don’t know about me… although some of you may know some of them…

1  I used to sing every week in church – and play guitar.

2  I’m actually very shy, although people don’t believe me and I’m not quite as bad as I was when younger.

3  If I’d still been married, I would have now been married for 35 years!  Wow!   Of course I was a child bride…

4  I’m a real nature lover, even though I don’t always appreciate its cruel side.

5  My first job (when I was 17) was working in what’s now the Job Centre, deciding how much Unemployment Benefit people received.

6  Cheese is one of my favourite foods.  When I lived in France, I tried a new one every week – in addition to the Brie, Camembert, Amsterdammer and other cheeses I used to buy regularly.

7  When I was younger, I used to write and draw all over (deface) books – including big family dictionaries or whatever I could lay my hands on.

8  In the past, I used to write songs and music.

9  My most precious books are my Bibles – of which I have several.

10 I’m a cryptic crossword and Sudoku addict – when I’m not reading a good novel.

Saturday 12 June 2010

Long time no Blog – it’s good to be back and for life, hopefully, to settle down a little.  Couldn’t resist this one because this is one of my favourite Time to Stamp images, as are the background stamps (from the ATC plates).  Believe it or not, the card is BLACK, as is the Cuttlebugged layer... the background is made with Brilliance reinkers on glossy card.

Thank you VERY MUCH to Pen for the wonderful award she gave me in the last couple of days – I will do as I’m supposed to (tell you 10 things you don’t know about me and nominate ten other bloggers) as soon as I can.  Life has been rather hectic of late, so I have a lot to catch up on.   If you haven’t visited Pen’s blog, it’s well worth a look – it’s one of my favourites.

This one was just a play – great to be able to for a change!
I found a piece of Caught in Crystal acetate, so I used that, putting some Spanish text paper behind it and stamped up some glossy card for the background.  It IS straight but the scanner has obviously distorted the image because of the buttons and the layers – at least this one doesn’t blur all the 3D images - and it's rust, lol!  Maybe I need to calibrate the scanner???
