'What you do speaks so loudly, I can't hear what you say.'
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Monday 11 June 2018

I worked on this journal spread a while ago, but only finished them off yesterday, so I thought I’d share them for the Art Journal Journey ‘Inspired by…’ challenge.

TRUMPETS 2

It’s inspired by a Waterboys track, ‘Trumpets’…

Make My Mondays Challenge is Embossing Resist… this is my first play with one of my favourite techniques.

WHEAT PALETTE

I stamped on white card with Versamark, then stamped the verse in Versafine, embossing with clear embossing powder.  I then sponged on distress inks - Salty Ocean, Peacock Feather, Toasted Marmalade and Mustard Seed, wiping the excess ink off the stamping with a paper towel. Then I stamped the Hero Arts wheat a couple of times in Mustard Seed ink. I love resist techniques and there’s a Faux Batik challenge over on another challenge blog, so I may well be doing some of that soon…

This is a card I made a while ago, using some new tree stamps from Marianne.

BE YOURSELF B

And here’s a little card made with a scrap background piece I found… though I did add some colour to it. The butterflies were from my ‘already cut out’ image basket, as was the word ‘Prayers’.

Beautiful cards (great stamps and words) and I really love your AJJ page and the imagery and words. I have alaways loved music and have also dabbled in songwriting years ago but I didn't know anything about 'The Waterboys' - that was a great song and I will now go and listen to more of their songs. :)
Thanks for sharing what inspired you and joining in at AJJ.

All of your cards are fabulous. I especially like the butterflies. Your color choices are perfect, too.

But of course, I was in AWE of your Art Journal Journey entry. It is out of this world. I love the ocean you created. It looks like a REAL ocean image. It is fabulous. Of course, I enjoyed the stamped image of the band, and the song which I'll be singing all day, now. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us at Art Journal Journey.

The three cards are so beautiful - I specially like the >Be Yourself< most!
You never cease to amaze me with your card designs! And you amaze me with this awesome spread. I love the ocean you created with the wording and how you coloured all so well and your handwriting is just so beautiful as well!
What a fantastic entry linked to Art Journal Joureny Cath! Thank you very much!
Happy week!

Thankyou for coming and spinning the butterfly wheel with me. Your card certainly does fit in as there are several prizes and different requirements to win. You only need to a butterfly and one element from the wheel to play along. So glad you did. Hugs Mrs A.

Hi Cath! I'm SO delighted to see you in the Playground, finally. AND also playing along with Mrs A in her Butterfly Challenge - who is a dear friend (albeit mad as a box of frogs, and she lives reasonably nearby as well). LOVE your snippets card and my gosh the background is gorgeous. And who doesn't love butterflies :)

HUGE welcome my little friend - be sure to come back often.

Hugs

Don't know the song but the words are beautiful and I just love that image you have used - who does it please? Love the second page, you have really got the feel of water and I am in awe of the work you have put into this.
Love your cards, each and every one but have to say the Marianne one speaks to e - what a beautiful sentiment and fabulous colouring. But then I like the wheat in the fields too - reminds me of one I made at Mary G's with her stamps some time ago and it was inspired by a card you had made and sent to her.
Thanks Cath for some beautiful artwork.

What a great variety of amazing projects! I'll comment on the journal spread since that's what you submitted for our challenge, but what a treat to see your fabulous cards, too! I really like the way you made a focal image on your journal page and then have the words floating up out of the background- almost like music itself! It is beautifully done and I'm so glad you shared it with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
