Happy Mother's Day to all ladies in the UK!

I saw one of my sons  yesterday and the other one won't even be aware that it is Mother's Day. My mum is in New Zealand, and although I did send her a card, I haven't sent flowers to her this time - it's not quite the same thing when you can't get daffodils in season, lol. I always bought her around 10 bunches, so she could have vases of them all around. I love daffs, but I also love tulips and have some beauties growing in my pots at the moment...just look at the variation of colours in these! Aren't they amazing? Even more amazing in the sunlight, when I'm not blocking it to take the photo...

Sorry I haven't blogged much lately. It was my birthday last weekend and this year, it turned out to be  an extended celebration, seeing lots of lovely friends, and with lots of long phone calls - I was spoiled.  I haven't really had time for stamping,  and even when I have, I haven't had much inspiration. I have made a few things, though, so I thought I'd share some of them today.

There's a 'Use Yellow' challenge over at Allsorts and while many of you know I'm not over keen on lots of yellow, I do love yellow flowers and splashes of it...so here's one I made earlier...I used an old Indigo Blu stamp on watercolour paper and spread a little of the green around. I don't use this image often because it's so big, but I do quite like it.

I found some Visible Image stamps in a sale a little while ago, so I made a simple journal page with a couple of them, also using a Visible Image stencil (I think) that I bought at Port Sunlight.  I gessoed the page before adding Distress Oxides, spraying with a bit of water for the oxidation effect. I just didn't think it needed anything more, other than a few white gel pen highlights.

This was a simple birthday card I made for a close friend, using her colours (and mine). I used Distress Oxides on the background and when I clear embossed the Lavinia flowers, the whole thing embossed, so I had to add a separate greeting. There's a 'Card for a Special Lady' challenge over at Daring Cardmakers, so I'd like to link to that and Watercooler Wednesday's challenge is 'All About Occasions'..

There's also an ATG or CAS challenge over at Penny Black Saturdays, so I'm linking this black and white card I made using an old and treasured PB stamp. I love half tone stamps that give depth like this.

Thank you so much for calling in - I wish you all a very happy Mother's Day, especially if you're in the UK and even if you're not.  Personally, I think it should be 'Ladies' Day' so that no one is left out, so just celebrate anyway! My church gives all the ladies a daffodil and no one is left out, which I think is very special.

I'll be back soon

Lovely batch of projects! I have that anemone stamp from IB as well but also use it very rarely. Love the blue and purple tones of your journal page (which also works for our challenge I think - looks like a celebration of women to me!) and the very elegant card for your special friend. Thanks for joining us this week at Daring Cardmakers!

I'm late for everything this week. Real life got in the way of computer time, I fear. First, happy belated birthday, dear Cath. It must have been a good one from your absence in blogland. Second, happy Mother's Day tomorrow. Seems strange to say that, since ours is in May.

Finally, you make the most IMPRESSIVE cards. I'm truly amazed at how beautiful they always are. I especially like the PB card, but the birthday card is special, too.

Happy Mother's Day to you Cath. You get to celebrate both your birthday and mother's day in a short period of time. Too bad you can't send all those daffodils to your mom, but I am sure she thinks of you and loves her card. How could she not? you've got some beautiful art today. The spring flowers are really lovely and are so good to see. Lucky you that tulips are blooming. Hope it is a great new week. Hugs-Erika

Gorgeous tulips and what an array of wonderful cards! Wonderful to see all those different styles. I especially love the second birthday card with those delicate flowers and the soft background. - Too bad that you don't see Lost Coast Designs at your local craft fair, but you can always order on line - that's what I do most of the time...otherwise my stamping life would be quite dire ;)

I smiled as I read down your post Cath, you don't much care for crafting with yellow so quickly moved on to hues of blue, yet came up with such a beauty for our 'Use Yellow' theme at Allsorts challenge and a super design as well, thanks so much for joining in.

I used to love it at church when they gave the children some daffodils to give to their Mothers. It was a lovely idea and nice to see your church honours this. My favourite service was years ago when our vicar, Rev Hugh Sowdon, had us all go outside and hold hands forming a circle around the church. It was our way of hugging the church, which was 'our Mother'. Mother Church. Something that has never left me.
Love your tulips, mine have been coming out for ages now but still are not showing what the colour is. I brought them back from Amsterdam - blue, white and black - but I suspect they are going to be red or pink. So much for my buying them from the floating flower market there (Bloemenmarkt?)
Lovely cards and journal page Cath, I love the one you describe as "simple" - my kind of card.
Made me smile about your youngest not realising it was Mother's Day - typical male.
Have a lovely week
Hugs, Neet xx

Oh Cath! I love all of these cards but must admit to stamp envy with the last card! (also 'keep clean' envy - there would be smudges all over mine!!!) Love tulips but never had much success with them! Glad your birthday celebrations lasted a while, since I omitted to wish you Happy Birthday in time!! Hugs, Chrisxx

Your tulips do look lovely, such gorgeous shades.
Great cards and I've got the IndigoBlu stamp - haven't used it in ages either, but it is a nice stamp and I love the colour of your flowers, even if you aren't keen on yellow.
Hope you had a lovely day yesterday.

Your cards are great! I'm sure the special ladies in your life loved it.
I feel the same about Mother's Day. Not all women can be mothers. So some might feel left out on such a day...
Your tulips are lovely!
Thanks for sharing your creations with the Daring Cardmakers this week.
