Hi all 😊 I finally managed to get a couple of cards made - despite knocking over a jar of water while in the process, which meant I had to move all the stuff around my stamping area (shock, horror - that meant cleaning 😖 and rearranging a few things because it had gone inside boxes of supplies, under the radiator and all around where I sit) - and that put me out of action for a couple of days! But I finally made my cards - one out of necessity, the other for FUN!

My lovely brother finally bought a house, after three years of renting because of the lack of availability where they live. They moved house last week, though he was still working out of the rented house until this week, and I really wanted to send him a card to wish him Happy New Home. So I made this...it's pretty simple, but it was just what I wanted for him and he likes it.
The houses are from Stampendous and the words are a mish mash of words from different stamp sets. I just sponged the background and added some white rays to spotlight the houses, adding a bit of grass around the base.

Today I played with an Inkylicious Splatter background, which I've had loads of fun with the last two days! I'll be sharing more of the backgrounds I made in the next few days.
I wanted to enter the Penny Black & More Blooms, Butterflies and/or Bugs challenge, so this is for that.
The background is stamped with Oxides and the butterfly is a (large) Stampendous stamp, embossed on Vellum and coloured from the back. I also added glitter to parts of it, though it's very hard to show it, despite trying to get photos!

Here's my attempt to get a photo of the glitter, but you really can't see it very well at all...

Because I used one of my favourite colour combos, I'm also joining Stamping Sensations' True Colours challenge. The Alphabet Challenge is G for Grunge/Glitz, so I'm playing along with them, even if you can't see the glitter clearly 😞
I'm also playing along with Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, to make your own Background and Throwdown Tuesday's Anything Goes.

Thanks for calling in today. I'm sorry I'm not able to spend much time on the PC at the moment, so I'm not getting the chance to visit your blogs and leave comments - I hope you'll forgive me.

I'll be back soon, hopefully

gorgeous cards Cath! Love the New Home card- that is a great stamp of houses. And who doesn't love butterflies...the sentiment stamp looks like the exact same one I have- which is quite old:):)

Well, Cath, I say it is perfectly fine to take time for your REAL life, haha, even though we think of our art lives as the REAL life. Gosh, my blog visits are never regular, I just grab time when I can, bravo to you for keeping a schedule that you're having to deviate from now.

These art pieces are fab! I know your bubba will love that card. Those houses are so cute and your detailing of them is perfect, as is the sky that highlights them and your sentiment stamping. And the butterfly card, oh, that background is perfect, such a lovely round shape with different colors, how in the world did you accomplish that? Your butterfly is wonderful as well. Always loved that quote, too. I have another stamp of a similar phrasing, but I do like yours more and the font.

You asked about my name Aimeslee. My REAL life given name is Amy Elizabeth. As a child I was called Amy Beth. But when I began sharing my art online, I was very shy about revealing my true identity. I am also the family genealogist, and when I was researching my Great-great-grandpa Newberry (my paternal grandmother's line), I happened upon info about his first cousin Aimes Lee Newberry. I liked the sound of his two given names so I just combined them and used that name - since about 2004. I've often wished since then that I'd been named Aimeslee! My close friends have and do call me Aim or Aimes as a nickname to Amy, so it has fit in well to REAL life.

Hope you get back to "normal" lickety-split! And that everything dries. Lord, I've been there so many times with my bottled water getting knocked over. It's a miracle my computer keyboard still works, just sayin'. heehee XOXOX

Like you, life has gotten a bit complicated now I am trying to keep up with three young people. Finding time to visit everyone, make art, and keep up with teens puts my sleeping to a minimum. I understand your needing real life time.

What amazed me about the house card you made for your brother was how well those different stamps fit together. Did you use a positioner, or were you just that good? Not saying you aren't always great, just a silly question.

Loved the butterfly and would love to know more about that technique, too. Both cards are amazing. Sorry to read about the spilled water. I've spilled water and shimmering mists when I left the lid off several times. Thankfully, I have anti-static mats under my table in my craft room

Fab cards Cath, love the butterfly and the new home one is so appropriate, the wording is lovely. You spilt water! Wel, I spilt liquid water colour on my carpet the other night, thought it would come out as it's water based but no, now I have orange patches! Good job OH eyesight is not brilliant, he hasn't noticed Hahaha 😄

Loving the design of the card you made for your Brother Cath, great funky houses and sunrays, but the Butterfly card really jumps out at me - strange that - the background colours, splatters and sentiment are all just perfect, as always it's lovely to see you at Stamping Sensations and Penny Black and More challenges, thanks so much for joining in.

I love these splatter backgrounds of yours. Very effective. Sorry we cannot see the glitter but now we know it is there we can visualise it.
Love the rays you have used on the card for your brother. No wonder he likes the card it is perfect for his moving home. Very clever use of various words too.
So sorry about the accident in your room sometimes these things are sent to try us, or test us.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hugs, Neet xx
