I thought I'd share a page in my 'Pray' (word for 2019) Journal today. While hunting for a stamp, I came across this one and realised it fits this month's Art Journal Journey challenge perfectly. The background is white acrylic paint, with dtp Versafine Clair inks over the top, followed by stamping the image in Versafine Black. I played with etching words and shapes in the ink, using a bamboo skewer, but although the white paint showed up beautifully at first, once I clear embossed the page (because I'd used Versafine, which wouldn't otherwise dry) they disappeared. So, I went over the marks with a Gel pen. I added a few doodled shapes and some black and white colouring (Posca) to random parts of the image, then journaled my words. 2 pages side by side, followed by the page I'm linking:-
A few more cards for the 'Make Someone Smile' mingle...
I'll link one of these to the Bright and Cheerful Challenge at Sweet Stamping and to the Just Stamping Challenge at Daring Cardmakers.
There's also a Black and White challenge at Retro Rubber, so I'll link to them, too. The 'birthday' stamp is around 10 years old. I don't usually use Blogger to post, but Open Live Writer has a problem with images at the moment, so I have no choice. For some reason, despite the ten or more times I've edited the font size, Blogger keeps changing it, so I've tried rewriting it completely this time around. I hope it works...
Thank you so much for popping by; you're always welcome. Back soon Cath xxx
Your page is amazing Cath. Those are my kind of colors and I love all the shapes and the white details really page everything pop. Hope it's a good week. ugs-Erika
Love your sheepies. You do some fun things with them and they definitely are cards to make one smile. Certainly bright and cheerful - brightened my morning up anyway. The journal page is lovely - like the idea you had of writing in the paint even if you did have to go over it when it had dried. Lovely stamp, reminds me I have some images that could be used together to build up like this that are old favourites but rarely used these days. Thanks for sharing.Hugs, Neet x
Hadn't realised your zoo animals and the CAS card were part of this blog post - I was treating them as separate ones. Love those animals - who makes them, such useful stamped images! Love the words you have used on both of them but the second one just cracked me up - love it! As for the CAS card - is that a die? If so what a useful one for a male card, something I always struggle with. Love how strong and powerful it is in its simplicity. Hugs, Neet xx
Your sheepy cards made me smiling - they are so cheerful and fun and I love the zoo animal cards as well! Humor coupled with fine stamp art! Gorgeous! And your CAS also always is a joy to look at! Perfect B/W CAS! And to the pages in the kraft journal! These quotes are so true and so medidative and all the lovely mark making you did is gorgeous ! A wonderful page - I also like the choice of colours and the black and white additions make it perfect! Wonderful for our geometric shapes theme at Art Journal Journey dear Cath! Thank you beyond belief for supporting us so well at the Art Journaling blog! We love to have you with us!
You will guess I am smiling after seeing your fun animal cards, they all look fantastic. The journal page looks great as well, it is a super stamp to use and the colours look lovely. Yvonne xx
